|
|
Chris Doyle has suggested that we add this new class:
1. Definition
Spec Ford is designated as a regional only class. Eligible Cars are all Formula F cars..
All Spec Fords cars must comply with the SCCA rules applicable to Formula F in the
current GCR.
2. Tires
Tires are open.
3. Class Designation
All cars shall display SF as the class designation.
4. Administrator
Current class administrator is Chris Doyle. |

Peter,
There is a rumor (unsubstantiated) currently circulating that a FF turned a sub 1:50 lap at HPR this winter on the new Nokian Hakkapelitta R2. Chris wants to set the FF lap record at HPR before he retires from racing. _________________ Keith Hall

Jim suggested this 16 months ago....

This is just brainstorming and not a fully thought out proposal.
Lets assume there are a number of later Formula Fords out there that want to run some events, but don't want to step up to the new spec tire.
Could we have another Regional class for these cars called Regional Formula Ford. The rules would be simple. Cars must conform to the current GCR except they could run any brand/compound tire.
This approach would cost nothing, would not interfere with the current CFF class, and would solve this problem (if it really does exist).

The board voted to add the SF class for the 2017 season as suggested by Chris and Jim.
For 2017 the SF class will not be assigned divisional points and thus there will not be a class champion for the initial year. The board will revisit the decision at the end of the season.
Please help get the word out to all open wheel racers.

Chris,
I expect to see you or Ron at La Junta with your fresh Nokian Hakkapelitta R2s on the Crossle. No excuses! _________________ Keith Hall
